Pope Recognizes Second Miracle

Beatification of Carlo Acutis: Photos Cause Confusion

Pope Recognizes Second Miracle

Pope Francis has recognized a second miracle attributed to the intercession of Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who died in 2006 at the age of 15. The first miracle attributed to Acutis was the healing of a child with pancreatitis in 2020.

Body Display Causes Confusion

Photos of Acutis's body, which is currently displayed for veneration in Assisi, Italy, have caused confusion online. Some people have expressed concern that the body appears to be "intact" and "incorrupt," while others have suggested that the photos have been altered or digitally manipulated.

Vatican: Body Has Decayed "Naturally"

The Vatican has issued a statement emphasizing that Acutis's body has decayed "naturally" and that the photos are an accurate representation of his remains. The statement also notes that the body was "reconstructed" and "treated" with formaldehyde to prevent further decay before being displayed for veneration.

Acutis's Legacy

Acutis was a devout Catholic who spent his short life promoting the Eucharist and the Marian apparitions. He created a website dedicated to documenting Eucharistic miracles and approved Marian apparitions.

Acutis was beatified in October 2020 by Pope Francis. He is now known as "Blessed Carlo Acutis" and is considered a role model for young people.
