Summit League Champions Head to Fargo, North Dakota for Quarterfinal Matchup

Bison Earn Automatic Bid with 49-14 Win Over South Dakota

FARGO, N.D. (November 20, 2023) - The North Dakota State Bison football team has earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs after defeating the South Dakota Coyotes 49-14 in the Summit League Championship game on Saturday, November 19.

The Bison, who are now 12-1 on the season, will host the quarterfinal round of the FCS Playoffs at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. The game will be played on Saturday, December 3, against an opponent to be determined.

North Dakota State is making its 13th appearance in the FCS Playoffs and is looking to win its ninth national championship. The Bison have won the FCS title seven times in the past nine years (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018).

The Bison are led by quarterback Cam Miller, who has thrown for 2,456 yards and 26 touchdowns this season. Running back Jalen Bussey has rushed for 1,234 yards and 16 touchdowns, while wide receiver Zach Mathis has caught 65 passes for 912 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Bison defense is led by linebacker James Kaczor, who has 104 tackles this season. Defensive end Spencer Waege has 12 sacks, while cornerback Destin Talbert has seven interceptions.
